The Managing Director of NTA, Hon. Edmund F. Forh, Receives OFARUL’s Highest and Most Prestigious Award
The Online Freelance Reporters Union of Liberia (OFARUL) has conferred its highest honors, "The Grand Master of Extraordinary Leadership and the Nobel Supreme Order of Public Service," upon Hon. Edmund F. Forh. This honor was presented on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, in Monrovia at the Head Office of the National Transit Authority.
This award, the most decorated and prestigious recognitions granted by OFARUL, acknowledge Hon. Forh’s transformative leadership in restoring the NTA’s credibility, expanding nationwide public transit, and aligning the institution with the principles of transparency, accountability, and the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development.
OFARUL is a consortium of freelance journalists, online reporters, investigative writers, bloggers, human rights activists, social media influencers, and public intellectuals. The organization’s mission is to unmask vices impeding national progress, influence policy for the public good, and advance independent online journalism as a tool for strengthening Liberia’s governance and democratic systems. According to the team of independent journalists, under Hon. Forh’s stewardship, the NTA has introduced major reforms to strengthen accountability and efficiency. His administration has overseen the restoration of the NTA’s reputation and creditworthiness, the creation of safer and more equitable labor practices, the implementation of anti-corruption systems to protect institutional resources, the expansion of reliable, affordable public transport services nationwide, key development initiatives which include the construction of a state-of-the-art NTA headquarters, the establishment of local NTA offices across all 15 counties, the development of modern bus stop infrastructures, and the procurement of more than 50 new transit buses to address Liberia’s long-standing transportation challenges.
Receiving the awards, Hon. Forh expressed his gratitude and reaffirmed his commitment to national service: “I am deeply honored to receive these distinguished awards from OFARUL. This recognition is not only for me but for the dedicated men and women of the National Transit Authority who work tirelessly every day to serve the Liberian people. Our mission remains clear: to build a safe, reliable, and inclusive public transport system that empowers citizens and supports our nation’s development agenda.”
Also speaking at the ceremony, the President of OFARUL, journalist Leon B. Saydee, underscored the significance of the honor, stating that Hon. Edmund Forh Forh has demonstrated exemplary leadership in public service. His vision and reforms at the NTA reflect the values that the entity upholds, including accountability, transparency, and national progress. "By conferring our highest honors upon him, we recognize his outstanding service to the Liberian people and his role in advancing the public interest.”
Hon. Edmund Forh now joins the distinguished ranks of leaders recognized for their extraordinary contributions to Liberia’s governance and development. The honors from OFARUL stand as a testament to his enduring impact on public service and his leadership in rebuilding one of Liberia’s critical national institutions.
